La Casa Student Housing
UrbanWorks developed a unique program for student housing, the first in the country, accommodating students from various higher-ed institutions and programs in shared living spaces. The project has received multiple awards and recognitions for innovative programming and community design. An efficient layout, paired with Energy Star appliances, LED lighting and green materials makes for a comfortable living space.
A Safe Haven: Affordable Veterans Housing
This 35-unit infill project has met all the Silver requirements for National Green Building Standards Certification. Highlights include Energy Star rated appliances installed in all units and at shared amenity spaces while the landscaping utilizes native plant species to provide a lush, naturalistic setting for the residents.
El Zocalo Apartments
This 30-unit affordable housing project received IHDA funding and pursued Enterprise Green Communities Certification, met Energy Star requirements, and applied Universal Design standards for 50% of the units. Enterprise Green Communities Certification is in progress.
A bold vertical swath of green wall marks the entrance to this four-story, mixed-use structure in Chicago’s Woodlawn neighborhood. All appliances in units and at shared amenities are specified to be Energy Star. With Net Zero as inspiration, highly efficient lighting, mechanical systems and exterior walls were priorities implemented in the design and construction.
The Villas of Lake in the Hills
This residential project has met all the Bronze requirements for National Green Building Standards Certification. In addition to all appliances in units and at shared amenities being Energy Star compliant, the project also received a grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) under the Energy Efficient Affordable Housing Construction Program (EEAHCP).
