UIC Campus-Wide Signage

Simple and effective wayfinding was the goal in developing new master interior signage standards for the sprawling 240-acre urban campus at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).

The solution—a collaboration between UrbanWorks and Thirst—provides a unique, yet clear, wayfinding experience across the campus. Simplicity and ease of use drive the development of common sense guidelines that can be effectively implemented within every space at the university.

Signs are composed of Gravotac, an indoor material that allows for crisply defined lettering and graphics, including ADA compliant and tactile elements as an integral element of each panel. The design is scalable and provides clear and effective communication devices at a variety of locations, including entrances, decision points, and destinations.
