University of Chicago Shared Services Center

The renovation of UofC’s Shared Service Center seeks to consolidate select administrative functions in order to provide high quality services by transforming existing office space into an open work environment.

A continuous path, defined by ceiling and flooring elements, leads to different points of formal and informal gathering in order to exchange information and advance the University’s mission. Along the path are graphic elements that tell the story of the University and provide moments of interest and connection.

Within the two open office areas, low height workstations create an airy atmosphere while providing privacy for staff. Light filled Meeting Lounge, Conference Room and Lunch Area perform as the central point of each floor. The Lounge’s furnishings encourage flexibility for simultaneous small group meetings, while the wall sized white boards in the Break Out Rooms, at the other end of the path, allow for more focused collaboration.
