This large-scale campus is configured as a “Beacon of Hope” for its disadvantaged, socially challenged South Side neighborhood. A diaphanous glass membrane roof embraces both indoor and outdoor spaces with ample daylight a primary feature. The roof’s careful shaping provides maximum environmental performance with natural ventilation.

The heart of the design is the Place of Worship, protected from the surrounding city and marked by the highest point of the flowing roof. Its space extends through the Garden of Contemplation to provide both indoor and outdoor settings for worship and communal celebration.

The design was a finalist in an international design competition.
