This conceptual project for the United Neighborhood Organization (UNO) comprises two schools—an elementary and high school—that are joined by an indoor athletic center. Three soccer fields are enclosed within, protected from Chicago’s fickle weather. A green roof over the athletic center allows for students to move between the school buildings on the upper level, enjoying an amenity that unites the two facilities in a shared green space. The entire structure is raised on dramatically canted columns, with a glazed ground level allowing the community to view many of the schools’ activities.
