Beginning with the lakefront framework vision document, the planning team collected and reviewed existing plans, historical information, documents and photographs to understand the legacy of ideas and vision for the lakefront parks and their context within the Evanston parks system. Existing data was collected and organized to analyze the quality of the lakeshore edge. Geotechnical and infrastructure surveys were used to prepare a detailed understanding of the existing site conditions. An analysis of transportation, access and circulation was conducted, along with a review of the existing buildings and analysis of their historic significance and potential for re-use.
