River Grove Mid-Rise

This dual six-story residential structure places 145 units around a raised private courtyard. The two main building masses differ in design and materials to avoid a monolithic feel for the complex. Glass accents primary nonresidential uses – ground floor retail and dramatic bridges that link the structures. Loft-like windows identify one wing while the other’s syncopated vertical openings provide a lively presence along the street.

Designed as a catalyst for future development in River Grove, the project’s contemporary aesthetic is reinforced by environmentally conscious initiatives including water reclamation and retention systems, natural air circulation, renewable and recyclable building materials, and sun control devices.
