Ravi Thakker
Urban Designer / Planner
Ravi Thakker joined UrbanWorks in July 2024 as an Urban Designer/Planner. He previously served as an Urban Designer for the City of Chicago’s Department of Planning and Development (DPD), where he contributed to key urban initiatives, community area plans, feasibility studies, and policy research that shaped the city’s central region. His multidisciplinary expertise bridges design and planning policies, zoning codes, and form-based studies.
Ravi’s passion for urban morphology, ecology, and psychology informs his approach to design which aims to foster equitable and resilient environments. His varied experience includes master planning, open space development, zoning analysis, interiors, product design, infrastructure, and sustainable urban strategies.
Ravi earned a Master of City Design (MCD) from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch) from the University of Mumbai. He is a member of the American Planning Association (APA), the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and the Council of Architecture, India (COA).
Ravi enjoys sketching, exploring urban environments, cooking international cuisines, and global cinema.
