UrbanWorks’ Principal/Design Director Maria Pellot and Senior Project Manager Marie Kohne were recognized on June 3ʳᵈ by Something Good in Englewood and Little Angels Family Daycare. The 7ᵗʰ Annual Parent/Community Partner Award Ceremony honored individuals for their contributions to the Little Angels Early Learning Center.
UrbanWorks’ new John Hancock College Prep High School was featured before an international audience at the recent American Institute of Architects (AIA) Conference on Architecture 2022 in Chicago. Marie Kohne, AIA; Maria Pellot, AIA; with Loren Johnson of Legat, led the tour of the new school in the city’s Clearing neighborhood near Midway Airport.
The Hispanic American Construction Industry Association (HACIA) has named UrbanWorks’ John Hancock College Preparatory High School as the 2022 Project of the Year.
UrbanWorks was honored to be the Architect for the recently opened West Pullman School Redevelopment, which features 60 units of affordable housing for seniors on Chicago’s south side. See below the fold for video from ABC7.
On September 23, UrbanWorks was featured in the 2017 Chicago Architecture Biennial Chicago Women in Architecture Walking Tour, which highlighted sites in downtown Chicago designed by female architects. UrbanWorks’ restoration of Buckingham Fountain was among the six sites featured on the walking tour. The Chicago Architecture Biennial (CAB) is the largest architecture and design exhibition in North America. Read more
UrbanWorks’ design for Concordia Day Ravenswood was unveiled today at a ribbon cutting ceremony for the 6,000 square foot childcare center. Located in Chicago’s Ravenswood neighborhood, the market-rate center intends to use its net revenue to underwrite subsidized programs at its other locations. Design features include classrooms that mimic a field of daisies, low height partitions between learning spaces, and acoustic ceiling panels which provide acoustical control between spaces as well referencing the petals of a flower. The project has also been featured in recent articles in The Chicago Sun Times as well as Crain’s Chicago Business.
