Boston Square F2 Multifamily
Boston Square F2 Multifamily is a 57-unit mixed-use apartment building in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The building is split into two distinctive parts—a three-story-tall portion facing Kalamazoo Avenue with tall glassy commercial storefronts on the ground level; and a four-story block facing a new promenade on the north side of the complex.
Residential entry is from the promenade or the parking lot through the lobby to a double-loaded corridor that runs the length of the canted L floor plan. Tenant amenities are located on the fourth floor and include a community room, roof terrace, and community planter garden atop the portion facing Kalamazoo Avenue. Facades feature fiber cement board cladding with varied color that provides a more domestic scale to the overall mass. The design employed the Enterprise Green Communities plus certification process as a sustainability benchmark.
Boston Square F2 Multifamily is the first of several multi-family mixed income buildings to be built to within the UrbanWorks-designed Boston Square master plan.
