UrbanWorks’ Jamin Nollsch Supports Affordable Housing

By abril 21, 2025No Comments

At UrbanWorks, we take immense pride in shaping affordable housing across Chicago. With over 3,500 units of affordable housing in the city and beyond, current projects include Pulaski Senior Housing, Roseland Housing, Harvest Homes II, and Boston Square Apartments. Leading our commitment, Senior Associate Jamin Nollsch is working with affordable housing advocates to address the shortage in Illinois. Per Chicago Cityscape, two new state bills (HB 1813 and HB 1814), known as the Missing Middle Housing Act, propose to break down the wall of exclusionary zoning, and permit at least 4 homes on lots zoned for single-family residential use. This would allow «cottage clusters» to be built in communities across Illinois. Also known as «pocket neighborhoods», these smaller homes can help provide cost-effective housing on denser urban lots. Jamin provided conceptual site plans for Chicago Cityscape, which were also included with a memo and sample ordinance for the City of Chicago to allow the pocket neighborhoods.
