See photos from the recently completed Oakton College Library Learning Commons renovation in Skokie, IL before they hit our website. Based on a design concept of introspection and the metaphor of a tree, UrbanWorks’ design for the project provides a contemporary take on the evolving delivery of college information services. The reception area provides the “roots,” introducing visitors to the “trunk” of the primary central circulation (including an elevator). Secondary paths connect the “branches” while individual offices, classrooms, and huddle spaces provide the “leaves.”
